Geschiedenis
van het antiquariaat van der Steur,
in het Nederlands |
The
history of Antiquariaat A.G. van der
Steur goes back to 1974. In that
year 1974 we bought the stock of
Gerard Halwasse in The Hague.
Halwasse was the last of the private
genealogical/heraldic bureaus annex
antiquarian bookshops in the
Netherlands with a large stock of
books, prints, pamflets,
periodicals, off-prints,
manuscripts, etc. about Dutch
history and particular about Dutch
genealogy and heraldry.
|
Between
1975 and 1988 we worked from our
private house with stencilled
catalogues and one or two bookfairs
a year. In those years we
specialised more and more in books
before ca. 1800 and in old master prints by Dutch artists.
In
1989 we started an open shop on the
first, second and third floor of
Kruisstraat 3 at Haarlem, a 3 minute
walk from the station.
|
The
main fields in our shop are:
Books:
Dutch history, genealogy, old and rare
books, Dutch literature 1700-1880 ,
biography, topography, books on books,
periodicals on these fields, etc.
Prints:
Old master prints, portrait prints,
prints of historical events,
topography of The Netherlands and
other countries, Dutch popular prints.
Manuscripts:
letters, documents, alba, genealogies,
diaries, poems, etc. concerning Dutch
persons, families, towns and villages.
Some
of these specialities are described in
the 31 catalogues which we published
in the past years or on our website.
