Extremely rare teaching device used for the Dutch children in the Dutch East-Indies. In 1908 Hoogeveen issued an adaptation of his first board of 1900 for use in the Dutch East-Indies schools with the entry's; 'Roos, Neef, Gat etc., not yet with the illustrations of Jetses. Our board is the important one designed by the famous illustrator Jetses. The Dutch method by Ligthart and Scheepstra, comprising of 6 vols., was introduced in 1910 and used up till the sixties as the main method for teaching young children to read. Added: volume 5 of the reading books by A.F.Ph. Mann, 'Van vier kinderen', 1930, 5th ed.
